TThe High Commission of Sri Lanka in Pretoria Ceremonially Commences the Work Year 2016

First Working Day 2016

The High Commission of Sri Lanka marked the commencement of the work year 2016 in a ceremony held at the High Commission premises, with the participation of the High Commission staff. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by H.E. Sunil de Silva,
 followed by singing of the National Anthem. Two minute silence was observed in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the conflict.  All the staff, including the locally recruited staff, joined in reciting the oath of public servants. The ceremony was concluded with a brief speech delivered by the High Commissioner on the importance of performing one’s duties as per the oath given. 
The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Pretoria Marks the World Anti-corruption Day

Anti Corruption Day 2015

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Pretoria marked the World Anti-corruption Day on 9th December 2016 at the High Commission premises. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag and the singing of the National Anthem. Two minute silence was observed in honour of those perished in the internal conflict. This was followed by reading of the anti-corruption oath and the delivery of a brief speech by High Commissioner H.E. W.S. de Silva on the importance of total elimination of corruption.The High Commission staff participated in the event.

HE the High Commissioner had a meeting with Mr. Maxwell Mosinyi , Executive Director and Ms. Jessica Moodley, Deputy Director of Botswana Investment & Trade Centre (BITC) at the Sir Lanka High Commission in Pretoria on 17th November 2015. During the meeting, both parties agreed to explore the potential areas of mutual benefits for both countries and cooperate to enhance bilateral trade, investment and tourism relations in the future.

The event was organized by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), in partnership with the City of Tshwane (Pretoria). Mrs. Farzana Varachia , Chief Executive Officer of Xanopia Women’s Business Group (XWBG) , the regional and ground partner of the Commonwealth Businesswomen’s Network (CBW) for Africa met the High Commissioner ,HE Mr. Sunil De Silva on 28th October 2015 at the High Commissioner’s office to introduce XWBG and to discuss  way forward of organizing  1st Commonwealth Business Multilateral Trade Mission to Sri Lanka early next year. The High Commissioner encouraged AWBG by appreciating its interest shown towards Sri Lanka and assured fullest cooperation of the mission in such arrangements that strengthen the bilateral relations between two countries.
